In June 1988 a group of metal finishing professionals—inspired by a technical symposium they attended the previous fall—met in Rosemont, Illinois to discuss the formation of a professional association focused on the hard anodizing industry. The “international” label was added a year later. We are indebted to these founders of IHAA, who ushered in the association and helped it grow over those early years:
